How to Share Your Contact Sign-Up QR Code and Link

The easiest contact list to manage is the one people build for you. Hey Church gives every church a unique sign-up QR code and link that lets members add themselves — with their consent recorded automatically. No typing names into spreadsheets, no chasing down email addresses. You share it once, and people opt in on their own.

Here’s how to find it, share it, and put it where it’ll actually get used.

Where to Find It

Go to Settings, then scroll to the Member Sign-Up section. There you’ll find two things:

  1. Your sign-up link — a short web address unique to your church (something like app.heychurch.co/join/your-church). Use the Copy Link button to grab it.
  2. Your QR code — the same link as a scannable code, shown right on the page.

You can download the QR code in two formats:

  • PNG — a high-resolution image, ideal for printing (bulletins, flyers, signage).
  • SVG — a crisp, scalable version, ideal for screens and slides.

You’ll also see a running count of how many members have joined through the QR code, so you can tell how well it’s working.

What Members See

When someone scans the code or opens the link, they land on a simple, clean, church-branded page — no login, no app to download. They enter their first name, last name, email, and (optionally) phone number, then tap Sign Me Up. That’s it.

Behind the scenes, they’re added straight to your contact list with email consent recorded, and they get a friendly confirmation email welcoming them. The whole thing takes them about fifteen seconds, usually on their phone.

Where to Put It

The QR code works best where people already have their phones out and a reason to connect. A few ideas:

  • In the bulletin — a small printed code with “Stay in the loop — scan to get church updates.”
  • On the lobby or auditorium screens — put it up before and after service.
  • At the welcome or connections desk — perfect for first-time guests.
  • On a table tent or sign in high-traffic spots (coffee area, kids check-in).
  • In your service slides during announcements.
  • Digitally — drop the link into your social profiles, a text to the congregation, or your email signature.

The link and the QR code point to the same place, so use whichever fits the moment — printed code for in-person, link for anything digital.

Why This Beats Collecting Cards

Paper connection cards get lost, and typing them in later is a chore that tends not to happen. A self-sign-up flow removes that whole step: the information goes straight into Hey Church, correctly, the first time — and consent is captured as part of the opt-in, so you’re on solid footing. We cover the consent side in more detail on our Proof of Consent page.

It also keeps growing your list long after you’ve set it up — every new visitor who scans becomes a contact without anyone lifting a finger.

Once People Are Signing Up

As members join, they’ll appear on your Contacts page alongside anyone you’ve added by other methods. From there you’re ready to create an announcement and start reaching everyone who opted in.
