March 2026 Product Update: Admin Notifications, Billing, and a Full Design Refresh

March has been a big month for HeyChurch. We shipped a wave of new features, overhauled our design system, and squashed several bugs that were getting in the way. Here’s everything that’s new.

New Features

Admin Notification Emails

Church admins can now receive automatic email notifications for the events that matter most: successful email blasts, failed sends, announcements that are about to expire, and empty send queues. There are five notification types in total, so you’ll always know what’s happening with your church’s email communication without having to log in and check.

Finding a specific contact just got a lot easier. The new search bar lets you filter your contacts list in real time by name, email, or phone number. No more scrolling through pages of contacts to find the person you’re looking for.

Email Verification on Signup

We’ve added email verification during the signup process. This keeps the platform clean by preventing bogus signups and ensures that every account is tied to a real, working email address.

Billing and Paid Plans

Upgrading to a paid plan is now seamless. When you choose a paid plan during onboarding, you’re taken directly to a secure checkout flow, and once payment is confirmed, you’re brought right back into HeyChurch ready to go.

Email Scheduling for Everyone

Previously, email scheduling was limited to paid plans. We’ve removed that restriction — all users, including those on the Free plan, can now schedule emails. We believe every church should have access to the tools that save them time, regardless of their plan.

Design and UI Overhaul

Full Design System Audit

We updated 56 files across the entire platform to replace hardcoded colors with a consistent design token system. This means every button, card, header, and accent color now pulls from a single source of truth. The result is a more polished, cohesive look across every page and component.

New Color Palette

Along with the design system work, we rolled out an updated color palette created by our designer. The new colors are cleaner and more modern while staying true to the HeyChurch brand.

Bug Fixes

We also fixed several issues that were affecting the day-to-day experience:

  • Onboarding redirect loop — Some users were getting stuck in a redirect loop during onboarding. We reworked how onboarding status is checked to eliminate this entirely.
  • Blank onboarding screen — A header was being applied in the wrong place, causing the onboarding page to load blank for some users. Fixed.
  • Rewrite button error — The AI rewrite button was throwing an error in certain cases. It now handles errors gracefully and shows a clear message if something goes wrong.
  • Auto-emailer reliability — Scheduled sends were sometimes hitting unnecessary cooldown delays, and AI rewrites could occasionally break email formatting. Both issues have been resolved.

What’s Next

We’re continuing to build the tools that help churches communicate more effectively with less effort. If you have feature requests or feedback, we’d love to hear from you — reach out anytime through the chat widget on our site.
